The Year in Ideas

To promote the annual Year in Ideas issue, The New York Times Magazine created this nice little video. Take a minute (actually 1:42) to learn about some of the big ideas from 2007 that may end up making a huge impact on our lives in the years to come. Stick through to the very end; especially if you think you need to be some sort of scientist to make big discoveries. All it takes, sometimes, is a willingness to look at the world in a different way.

Why Man Creates

I've written about Saul Bass previously. And I will no doubt write about him in the future.
Right now, however, check out this short film Bass created entitled Why Man Creates. Perhaps it was shown to you in school. I'd never seen it before today. What a great piece. Fun, educational, and oh so Saul Bass.

Living in Exponential Times

I saw this video a few weeks ago and have thought about it quite often since. With all of our attention focused on global warming and war and rising gas prices and who does or doesn't have a nuclear bomb, we tend to miss the fact that the world is changing exponentially around us. If you haven't already seen this, take a look.
