Matter

1
In an increasingly virtual world, here's a way to get your hands on a box of real stuff.
Sign up here (UK only for now), and you'll get a box full of stuff you can read, play with, or try at your leisure—delivered free to your door. The first box of Matter contained a new Cadbury candy bar flavor, a CD sampler of BBC audio books, a new brand of shower gel, samplers of two new Harper Collins books (first chapters plus covers), and more. The people behind Matter view the service as a type of magazine, delivering interesting content (not crap) to interested households.

Seesaw Bench

1

An attempt to get strangers to converse in public spaces. The Seesaw Bench, by artist and designer Martin Nicolausson, requires cooperation to be functional. Any resemblance to the seesawing stock market is purely coincidental.

I posted about our studio's Mac-O-Lantern project just a few days before Halloween last year. We were overwhelmed with the response and heard from a lot of people who said they wanted to do the project themselves. Here's your reminder, folks, with enough time to actually finish the project before Halloween this year. Here are the step-by-step instructions. You can download the free slide show software right here. And, due to popular demand, we've recently made the faces available for download right here. All you need to do is get your hands on an old Mac.
