I agree about your avatar. It adds to your comments. :o) What a wonderful tribute. I had no idea that was a person who affected you so much. I thought it might be clip art...LOL Thanks for such fun Tweets.

Thank you for thank you to Mr. Ogilvy. His "Ogilvy on Advertising" was the first book I read on this topic. And it is still on my bookshelf.

A month ago, I started in the ad/marketing world after 7 years as a magazine editor. David Ogilvy's "Confessions" has inspired me to no end.

As have you, good sir.

This was the most important post I read all week. I am currently working on my MA in New Media Journalism and my present course focuses on public relations. Before beginning to investigate the importance of the personal brand and image I was always under the assumption that my work, or the work of my clients would or should speak for its self. I grasped firmly to the idea that artist statements, about pages, and other “get to know me” selling points were unnecessary or even overly indulgent.

Reading this story helped me to realize that these brief moments, when provided to an audience, can amuse, inform, or engage potential clients.

Thanks for sharing and I will definitely read some of David Ogilvy's work.
