A Clean, Fresh Start

My beloved Kansas City Royals play their 2008 home opener today. Pardon me while I take a personal stroll down memory lane with these classic commercials featuring my all-time favorite player. They are especially bittersweet as the Royals were actually good back then. Oh well, spring is a time for eternal optimism. Go Royals!

American Still-Life

In her American Still-Life series of paintings, Chicago-based fine artist Pamela Michelle Johnson makes us ponder a culture of instant gratification where the consequences of overindulgence are often ignored. With intense light and shadow, Johnson's sweet and greasy subjects take on a classic realism. The paintings are massive in scale, with most over six feet tall.
